Maintenance Worker (Historic Preservation)

These are Full-Time Temporary Appointments Not-to-Exceed one year with potential to be extended for an additional one year for a maximum of two years based on agency needs and potential funding. Employment may be terminated at any time due to fluctuations in funding levels, project needs, employee performance, or other considerations. As a Maintenance Worker (Historic Preservation):
Work involves mainland and remote island work. Island-based assignments require frequent travel by boat. When working on island, government housing is provided but amenities (cell phone service, internet, etc.) are very limited. For mainland (Ventura, CA) work, private housing must be obtained at your expense. Travel to park islands and other Mediterranean Network parks on a regular basis. Assist journey level trade workers by performing simpler and more routine and basic recurring historic preservation work involving primarily the maintenance, repairs and stabilization, and documentation of cultural resources throughout the park; Assist journey level trade workers who performs fabrication and installation of duplicate replacement parts of deteriorated wood members such as moldings, beams, timbers and stairways; and assists in the maintenance, repair, and stabilization of prehistoric and historic ruin and sites built of stone, mortar, and adobe; and Receive assignments orally or through work orders, sketches, or basic blueprints. To qualify for this position, you must have sufficient knowledge and ability in the following job-related factors:
Ability To Do The Work Of The Position Without More Than Normal Supervision (SCREEN OUT) Knowledge of Equipment Assemble, Installation, Repair, etc. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (including blueprint reading) Ability to Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment If your knowledge and ability in the SCREEN OUT element above is not sufficient, you will receive no further consideration.
